Pedal for Prevention

Pedal for Prevention, created by Expresso Fitness and the American Diabetes Association, is the first-ever virtual ride-a-thon, taking place in conjunction with National Diabetes Awareness Month. To participate visit www.expresso.net. There you can create your own personal pledge page, find participating gyms and then raise money by logging miles on Web-enabled Expresso Bikes at the gym of your convenience between November 2 and November 16.

Expresso will track riders' mileage and the total funds raised by each rider. 100% of the proceeds from Pedal for Prevention will go to the American Diabetes Association. The goal of Pedal for Prevention is to educate Americans on the importance of exercise in managing and preventing type 2 diabetes, especially the 23.6 million Americans living with diabetes and 57 million with pre-diabetes.

3rd Annual Halloween Costume Birthday Party

Rob's Birthday Party
If you've been to the last few Team in Training cycle team rides, you should have gotten your invitation to Coach Rob's 3rd Annual Halloween Costume Birthday Party. Photos of some of the decorations can be viewed on Photo Bucket - http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e20/lynnsmythe/Halloween%202008/.

Here's the details on the party for anyone that needs them.

What: Rob's 52nd Birthday Party & Halloween Costume Party.

When: Saturday, October 18th 8 PM to MIDNIGHT (Rob's actual birthday is on the 21st).

Where: Smythe Residence, Country Club Acres (CCA), 5312 Cleveland Road, Delray Beach. CCA is a non-gated community. Google our address if you need directions. Call if you get lost, but I'll probably be playing with ghosties the night of the party and won't even hear my phone.

This is a BYOB party. If you would like to indulge in a few spirits while at the party, please bring them with you. We will have bottled water, soda, ice tea and other non-alcoholic drinks available. And there will be lots of yummy food and Halloween candy too. If you are planning on bringing a bottle of wine with you, remember to bring a corkscrew. We don't own one!

Note: Please, no presents, unless you are going to buy Rob that new $12,000 time trial bike he wants. Donations to Team in Training always accepted, I'll make sure they go to TNT and not to Rob's time trial bike fund.
